Week 6
Monday 19th February 2024
- Today I am working from home, so that way I can work on some audio and video related work.
- I have composed two original tracks for the interview videos.
- I figured that for the videos, some original songs composed by me would fit and that way you won't have to listen to dead silence.
- I also decided to create an intro video for the beginning of the interview videos, as if it were a series.
- I'm also working on the interview video, looking for any kind of good stock footage that I can find.
- I do have all the footage finished and edited together into a video. It did take a long time however, so I decided that I would render the video overnight.
- The video has been fully rendered, and I am about to send it to Ré so that I may get to hear what he has to say about it.
- Today I decided to update my Who What When of the work I got finished. As with the previous WWW, I decided to mark the ones that are done on the top, and any ongoing tasks on the bottom.

- I just had a meeting with Ré and here were the notes that I was given
- Create video based on PhD project plan
- Practice making a video.
- I could book a room for video, or I could work from home.
- Most people work three days a week from home.
- Think about how you're going to make your video based on your dummy PhD.
- So I was thinking that today I would think about how I would approach my video. Then tomorrow I'm going to record it.
- I have a room booked so that I may record my video.
- I have been updating my WWW list (from above) to add more tasks related to the new video recording.
- I have also been working on graphics for the video, although it's mainly for some background footage that I can use for the video. I will render this tonight.
- I did say yesterday I was going to render a background video, but unfortunately I never saved any of my raw work yesterday, so I'll have to do that now. Perhaps I could also add some touches to the artwork above to show some creative flair.
- Ultimately, I needed to leave work early today because I had a dentist appointment happening at 2:45pm, so I unfortunately didn't get to work on much today.
- I also had to rebook my recording session for tomorrow at 11:00am. I booked it early because I have meetings and trainings happening later on in the day. I might be able to record some footage for the video too.
- I have the background video rendered, and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to record myself.
- Today I am going to record myself using the same website I used during week 3, Weet. I have arranged the meeting room for 11:00am.
- I was emailed about a PI Meeting, but unfortunately, I also had a Fire Extinguisher Training happening at the same time, which I felt was more important to join.
- I need to look over the PhD project that I made for myself.
- I was thinking I could add some more stock footage and also composing more original music if possible.
- I'm just thinking that all this can be useful to add to my portfolio.
- I have the entire video recorded. Of course it needs to be edited down so that all the mistakes are removed, but I feel satisfied with the result.
- I had my meeting at 12:00pm, and it was interesting. They mainly talked about topics like celebrating 2023 figures, Health & Safety_Good catches, presentations on Research Excellence early career and highlights, infrastructure awards and an energy update, as well as a Q&A at the end. The students there also had some nice presentations too, including one based around a way to detect poisonous metals using chemical means.
- I had my fire extinguisher training at 2:00pm. I did arrive slightly late, but I managed to understand all that was shown. We were told about what extinguishers to use on what types of fires, and we even got to use extinguishers ourselves which felt very fun. We each had a turn at combating fires, and I even got to take out the last fire using a foam fire extinguisher. In the end we all got given a questionnaire and we answered all the questions given. I even got all the questions correct.

- I had a meeting with Ré and I wrote down the following notes:
- Fix audio quality
- Think about how to fix audio quality
- Try to find audio enhancing methods
- Due to the PhD students' schedules, there is a possibility that we might not be able to do the interviews.
- Today I am working from home, so I was thinking to work on some more audio work and some video production if I can.
- I did manage to start working on my PhD video work.
- I worked on some editing so that I got the background completed as well as got rid of all the mistakes in the main video. With that, my work load is made easier.
- I am also looking for good websites that can help with fixing the interview audio, to enhance the audio quality.
- I have also worked on one more Who What When for the week.
